At a glance: Somers¶
46 mentions of surveillance technology in 21 Somers meetings, 2021–2026
Still incomplete: 187 known meetings are not yet transcribed, so an absence here is not proof a topic never came up.
This report collects every mention of surveillance technology found in Somers's recorded public meetings -- automatically transcribed, then keyword-scanned. Each mention below links straight to the moment in the source video, so anything here can be checked against the recording itself.
Start with Timeline to read the discussion in order, or Findings by topic to jump to one technology.
Mentions are found by keyword and are not individually verified. A mention means the words were spoken at a public meeting -- not that the town uses, bought, or approved the technology. Read the quote and watch the clip before drawing a conclusion.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-08-27 16:02:07.213948 | agenda_platform_found | somersct.gov is a Revize-built site ("Revize" in page source). Agendas and minutes live on PER-BOARD pages -- /boards_commissions//agendas_minutes.php (e.g. board_of_finance, board_of_selectman, board_of_assessment_appeals, advisory_committee_for_seniors) -- rather than one central index. Recorded as custom since Revize is not one of the schema's named platforms. |

| 2026-08-27 16:02:07.213948 | body_structure_note | Somers runs BOTH separate Planning and Zoning commissions (105 and 35 titles) AND, more recently, a combined "Planning & Zoning Commission" (8 titles). All three registered, with the combined body seeded first so match_body()'s first-match-wins ordering resolves a combined title to the combined body rather than to whichever single commission happens to be seeded earlier. | Title-vocabulary analysis of the 636-title corpus, 2026-08-27 | claude |
| 2026-08-27 16:02:07.213948 | channel_found | somers_camera -- "Somers Camera" (UCitLJvpaGg5rGsVVbsUYK8A, @somerscamera5462), confirmed via direct yt-dlp probe AND independently corroborated by somersct.gov, whose "Live Streamed Meetings" quick-link points at youtube.com/@somerscamera5462/streams. | yt-dlp ytsearch12:"Somers Connecticut Board of Selectmen meeting" + direct probe + r.jina.ai extraction of somersct.gov, 2026-08-27 | claude |
| 2026-08-27 16:02:07.213948 | out_of_state_collision_ruled_out | Somers also exists in NY (Westchester County) and WI. Ruled out two ways: (1) somersct.gov links this exact handle; (2) the body structure is CT -- Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, separate Planning and Zoning commissions, Charter Revision Commission, Town Meeting. Somers NY is a Town Board / Town Supervisor town (Planning Board, ZBA, no board of finance); Somers WI is a Village with a Village Board. Neither has selectmen. | r.jina.ai extraction of somersct.gov + full 636-title corpus inspection, 2026-08-27 | claude |
| 2026-08-27 16:02:07.213948 | patterns_validated_from_real_titles | 599/636 titles matched (94.2%) -- BOTH tabs checked, /videos confirmed absent, so 636 IS the combined total. Body split: Board of Selectmen 243, Zoning Commission 105, Board of Finance 99, Conservation Commission 38, ZBA 35, Planning Commission 35, Town Meeting 20, Charter Revision 16, combined Planning & Zoning 8. Board of Education matched ZERO and was deliberately not registered. | yt-dlp --flat-playlist crawl + Python pattern validation, 2026-08-27 | claude |
| 2026-08-27 16:02:07.213948 | streams_only_channel | STRONGEST /streams case in this batch: this channel has NO /videos tab at all (yt-dlp: "This channel does not have a videos tab"). ALL 636 titles are on /streams. A /videos-only crawl would have returned ZERO and Somers would have been wrongly recorded as having no video source -- exactly the failure the both-tabs mandate in docs/onboarding_hartford.md step 3 exists to prevent. The town's own website also links the /streams tab specifically. | yt-dlp --flat-playlist crawls of both tabs (videos tab absent, streams 636), 2026-08-27 | claude |

Get the full transcripts¶
Download Somers's meeting transcripts (.zip)
Every finding in this report is a keyword match against exactly these files. Download them to check a quote in its full context, or to search for something this report's keyword list does not cover.
What's inside: one plain-text .txt file per meeting, named <date>_<video-id>_<meeting-title>.txt, plus a MANIFEST.txt giving the date range and how much of the town's video archive is transcribed.
How to use it
unzip somers-meeting-transcripts.zip -d somers
cd somers
# every meeting that mentions a term, with the surrounding line
grep -rin "license plate" .
# just the meeting dates, from the filenames
grep -ril "flock" . | sort
The filename's leading date is the meeting date, so a hit tells you which meeting to watch. Find that meeting in the Timeline below for a direct, timestamped link to that moment in the video.
These are machine-generated captions, not certified minutes. Expect mis-heard names and technical terms, and quote the video rather than the transcript when accuracy matters.
Generated 2026-09-27T15:47:53 from Somers's meeting transcripts and agenda documents. Home addresses spoken during public comment are redacted; see the archive MANIFEST for what that means.
